Everything you need to know about using Cashtruth to manage your budget and reach your financial goals.
Getting Started
1. Create an Account
Sign up with your email or Google account. It's completely free and takes less than a minute.
2. Set Up Your Budget
During onboarding, you'll set your currency, initial balance, and basic preferences. You can always change these later in Settings.
3. Add Your First Entry
Start tracking by adding income or expenses. Use the floating action bar on mobile or press N on desktop.

Budget Limits
Set monthly spending limits for each category. Cashtruth tracks your spending and shows visual progress bars so you know exactly where you stand.
- Color-coded progress: Green (safe), Yellow (warning), Red (exceeded)
- Automatic spending calculation from your entries

Goals Tracking
Set and track financial goals like investments, savings, or debt payoff. Watch your progress grow over time.

Recurring Payments & Bill Reminders
Set up recurring payments for subscriptions, bills, and regular expenses. Get browser notifications before they're due.
- Monthly, weekly, or custom frequency options
- Chrome/browser push notifications (requires permission)
- Set how many days before to be notified
Keyboard Shortcuts
Power users can navigate Cashtruth entirely with keyboard shortcuts. Press ? anywhere to see available shortcuts.

Installing on Mobile
Cashtruth is a Progressive Web App (PWA). You can install it on your phone for a native app-like experience.
iOS (Safari)
- Open Cashtruth in Safari
- Tap the Share button (box with arrow)
- Scroll down and tap "Add to Home Screen"
- Tap "Add" in the top right
Android (Chrome)
- Open Cashtruth in Chrome
- Tap the menu (three dots)
- Tap "Add to Home Screen" or "Install App"
- Confirm by tapping "Add"
Dark Mode
Cashtruth automatically follows your system preference for light or dark mode. You can also toggle it manually in Settings.
Go to Settings → Appearance to choose between Light, Dark, or System (automatic).
FAQ
Is Cashtruth really free?
Yes, 100% free. There are no premium plans, no hidden costs, and no paywalls.
Is my data secure?
Yes. We use Supabase with row-level security. Your data is encrypted and only accessible by you.
Do I need to connect my bank?
No. Cashtruth is manual-entry only, giving you full control and awareness of your spending.
Can I export my data?
Data export is coming soon. Your data belongs to you and you'll always be able to take it with you.
